What is RocketClubs?

RocketClubs' mission is to build up the world's biggest knowledge base of problems and solutions in hobby rocketry of all levels. We also strive to build a cohesive community of rocketry enthusiasts.

As it stands right now, finding information on hobby rocketry can be difficult. There are more than 100 small websites all over the place that have great little nuggets of information, none of which are comprehensive and many of which are unfocused, making finding that one piece of info that would get you over the next hump frustrating. Because of this, many rocketeers learn more by trial and error than a learning how to do it right the first time. Trial and error can be disheartening, expensive and dangerous. RocketClubs' goal is minimize this effect.

So whats the idea?

The idea is to get people to build new rockets and post tib bits along the way where each article represents a single problem or idea you would like to share with the community, any research, discussions or ideas you had about it, the solution you chose and why you chose it. Each of these articles should take no more than a few minutes to read. That way people can come to the site on their break, read a bit about this or that and not get caught up in something that takes 45 minutes to read and digest.

Of course we're not all business, we want you to have some fun too. We also want to hear about your flights, roadtrips to the launches, new ideas for totally awesome rockets and to help with that, we will be constantly adding features to let you really show off your stuff.

I have a question or comment, where do I send it?

You can email us directly at support@rocketclubs.com and we will get back to you as soon possible.

How do I change my user icon?

Your user icon is called a gravatar. It is based on the email address you have entered into your rocketeer profile. To change your gravatar, all you have to do is go to gravatar.com, sign up and change your image. Takes just 2 minutes.

You may wonder why RocketClubs uses gravatar as their profile image provider. The time it would take to write the tools which they provide for free could be much better used making RocketClubs more awesome. In addition to that, they generate unique pictures for people who haven't signed up before, which ensures everyone has some kind of avatar here.

Please note this is also the only reason we ask for your email address. It will never show up on any page on this website.

How do I get my flight verified?

Rocket Clubs uses a flight verification process to improve the quality of our flight stats. Currently we only allow club officers to verify flights.

The best way to get your flight verified is to contact an officer at the launch you attended and ask them to verify your launch by visiting your flight profile page. Once they are there, they will see a link to verify the flight for you.

How do I sign up to be a flight verifier?

As previously mentioned, we currently only allow club officers to be flight verifiers. Send us an email at support@rocketclubs.com telling us your rocketclubs.com rocketeer id, which club you are in and your officer role in the club. You can find your rocketclubs.com rocketeer id by clicking your name at the top of the screen when logged in and looking at the url. The number at the end is your id on this site. It may take a day as we try to verify the information you provide to us, and we will email you back as soon as we give you the ability to verify flights.

Please be aware that we take this role seriously and flight verifiers should only verify flights they witnessed! Abuse of this tool will result in permenant removal of the ability to verify flights for the offending verifier. Abuse of the tool means verifying joke flights or flights known to have not happened.
